A long-term visa for one year may be requested by third-country nationals who are employed by an employer registered in a member state of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) or are self-employed persons registered in one of these countries, and who can perform their job duties remotely while residing in the Republic of Latvia.
Documents required for requesting a visa:
- a valid travel document (if submitting documents to the Office by post, a copy of the passport must be enclosed);
- a completed and signed visa application form (fill out the e-application form);
- a photograph (not older than 6 months);
- a copy of a document certifying that the foreigner holds a health insurance policy (valid in the Republic of Latvia and the Schengen member states; the minimum limit of the insurer's liability specified in the policy for the insurance period must not be less than 42 600 EUR);
- documents certifying the expected place of residence in Latvia;
- if the foreigner is an employee: a document certifying the foreigner's current employment issued by the tax administration or social insurance institution of a member state of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and a certification by an employer registered in that country regarding the foreigner's prior employment with this employer for at least six months, including information on the amount of salary (not less than the average monthly gross salary of employees in the previous year, applying a coefficient of 2.5 (according to the latest information published by the Central Statistical Bureau - 4 538 EUR)) and confirming that the foreigner can perform their job duties remotely, if the foreigner wishes to receive a long-term visa for remote work;
- if the foreigner is a self-employed person: a document issued by the tax administration of a member state of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) certifying the income generated from self-employed activities during the last six months in an amount not less than the average monthly gross salary of employees in the previous year, applying a coefficient of 2.5 (according to the latest information published by the Central Statistical Bureau – 4 538 EUR);
- a document certifying the payment of the state fee.
