The process of acquisition of the citizenship of Latvia (as at July 31, 2026)

Naturalization process began in Latvia on February 1, 1995.

Since the beginning of naturalization process 153 600 naturalization applications have been received requesting 167 230 persons to be naturalized.
151 086 persons including 14 719 underage children have been granted the citizenship of Latvia by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers.
