Written request is a document certified in accordance with the procedures stipulated by the Cabinet, in which an inviter undertakes the obligations laid down in this Law in relation to the foreigner invited by him or her to stay in the Republic of Latvia (with a visa); Written request of a natural person may be prepared at the notary or at the diplomatic and consular representative offices of Latvia abroad, while the written request of a legal person shall be prepared on the cover page of the company.
INVITER – a natural or legal person, who invites a foreigner and assumes responsibility for compliance of the purpose of entry and stay of the invited foreigner with the purpose specified in the documents submitted for requesting a visa, for his or her exit from the state at the set time, as well as, if necessary, shall provide covering of expenses related to the health care of the foreigner, stay in the Republic of Latvia and return to home country.
THE INVITER MAY BE:
- a citizen of Latvia or non-citizen of Latvia;
- a foreigner, who has a valid permanent residence permit in the Republic of Latvia;
- a foreigner, who has a valid temporary residence permit in the Republic of Latvia - only for invitation of a spouse or relative up to the second degree in direct line or up to the second degree in side line for invitation for a time period, not exceeding the validity period of the temporary residence permit;
- a citizen of a Member State of the European Union, a citizen of a Member State of the European Economic Area or Swiss Confederation, who stays in the Republic of Latvia on the basis of certificate of registration or certificate of permanent stay.
- state administration authority of the Republic of Latvia;
- a legal person registered in the Republic of Latvia;
If the inviter is a NATURAL PERSON
The following should be included in the written request:
- his or her name (names), surname and personal identity number;
- his or her information about the occupation;
- provide information about the foreigner: name (names) and surname in the Latin alphabet like it is specified in the travel document of the foreigner, nationality; gender; date of birth; place of birth; place of residence abroad; occupation; expected place of stay in the Republic of Latvia; purpose and time of stay in the Republic of Latvia; expected place of submission of the request for a visa;
- number of the travel document of the invited foreigner;
- a certification that he or she assumes responsibility for compliance of the purpose of entry and stay of the invited foreigner with the purpose specified in the documents submitted for requesting a visa, for his or her exit from the state at the set time, as well as, if necessary, will cover expenses related to the health care of the foreigner, stay in the Republic of Latvia and return to home country.
!!! Written request of a natural person shall be valid for requesting a visa, if his or her signature on it is certified by a notary or the inviter prepares the written request at the diplomatic or consular representative office of the Republic of Latvia in the presence of the consular official.
If the inviter is a LEGAL PERSON
The following should be included in the written request:
- registration number of the legal person;
- his or her information about the occupation;
- provide information about the foreigner: name (names) and surname in the Latin alphabet like it is specified in the travel document of the foreigner, nationality; gender; date of birth; place of birth; place of residence abroad; occupation; expected place of stay in the Republic of Latvia; purpose and time of stay in the Republic of Latvia; expected place of submission of the request for a visa;
- number of the travel document of the invited foreigner;
- a certification that he or she assumes responsibility for compliance of the purpose of entry and stay of the invited foreigner with the purpose specified in the documents submitted for requesting a visa, for his or her exit from the state at the set time, as well as, if necessary, will cover expenses related to the health care of the foreigner, stay in the Republic of Latvia and return to home country.
The legal person may specify in the written request that it will cover expenses related to the entry and stay of the foreigner in the Republic of Latvia or in the territory of any other Member State of the Schengen Treaty.
