Passports invalid for travelling:

All passports of Latvian citizens and non-citizens are valid for travel, except:

  • Passports of Latvian citizens issued before 30 June 2002 (with a photo card affixed);

  • Passports of Latvian citizens issued in the period from 1 July 2002 to 19 November 2007 with a validity of 50 years and passports of non-citizens of Latvia issued in the period from 10 April 1997 to 19 November 2007 with a validity of 50 year, are not valid for travel from 20 November 2017.

REMEMBER!

  1. Before going on a trip, it is especially important to make sure in advance that your passport will be valid for the entire duration of the trip.

  2. Those citizens whose passports are about to expire need to be careful, as there are countries that impose specific entry requirements, e.g. so that the passport is valid for at least another 3 or, in other cases, even 6 months after the planned travel end date.

We recommend that you contact the embassy of the country in advance to clarify its requirements for the travel documents.

All other passports of Latvian citizens and non-citizens are valid for both travel and residence in Latvia until their expiry date.
