We face non-standard situations on a daily basis, when a person, who has renounced of the citizenship of Latvia and currently, when being a citizen of another country, wishes to restore it.
We explain how to act in such situation.
In order to restore the citizenship of Latvia, the following documents should be submitted to the Office (via mail or electronically, by signing every document with a safe electronic signature):
- application for restoration of the citizenship
- personal identification document - passport, eID card (when sending the documents via mail ONLY a COPY of the personal identification document should be sent);
- a statement regarding criminal records (if the age of 14 years has been reached), issued and signed by the competent authority in the current country of citizenship and which is issued not earlier then six months before submission of the application on restoration of the citizenship of Latvia, or a documentary certification regarding the fact that such statement cannot be obtained;
- a document regarding payment of the State fee in the amount of 21.34 euros.
