On Monday, August 18, representatives of the European Migration Network (EMN) Latvian national contact point took part in the annual regional conference of the Latvian Geographical Society, held in Alūksne. The event brought together geography teachers, researchers, and other interested participants to discuss the latest trends in geography teaching and regional research.
As part of the conference, representatives of the EMN Latvian contact point introduced the use of the educational tool “Destination: Europe” in classroom teaching. This tool is a discussion-based game that helps students learn about migration processes, understand their causes and consequences, and make decisions by evaluating different perspectives. The game encourages critical thinking, the ability to argue one’s opinion, and stimulates discussion, while at the same time enriching the learning process with a practical and interactive approach.
Geography teachers welcomed the opportunity to get acquainted with a new teaching resource that could help students learn about migration as a global phenomenon in an understandable and engaging way. The EMN Latvian contact point will continue its cooperation with teachers and educational institutions to promote the availability of high-quality, modern teaching materials in Latvian schools.
