ЄС продовжує тимчасовий захист до 2028 року, запроваджуючи нові вимоги щодо підтвердження виконання військового обов’язку

The European Union has extended temporary protection for people fleeing the war in Ukraine until March 4, 2028.

Along with this extension, new rules have been introduced for new applicants.

Important changes for new applicants

Starting from July 31, 2026, individuals applying for temporary protection for the first time must prove that they have fulfilled their military service obligations in Ukraine or are legally exempt from them.

Acceptable proof includes:

  • An exit stamp in your passport showing legal departure from Ukraine;

  • An official document in paper or digital format (such as the Ukrainian Reserv+ app) confirming your exemption or fulfillment of military duties.

If military service has been deferred, temporary protection will be granted only until the date specified in the official document.

Important: This rule applies only to new applicants whose applications are submitted on or after July 31, 2026. If you already hold temporary protection granted prior to this date and maintain your status continuously, these new requirements do not apply to you.
