If your permanent residence permit has become void on 3 January 2024, your further stay in the Republic of Latvia depends on the fact whether you have submitted an application for a permanent resident status of the European Union or requesting of a residence permit of another kind.
- if a decision has been made with regard to you on granting a permanent resident status of the European Union or granting a residence permit, you have to appear at the Office in order to arrange the residence permit card;
- if you have submitted to the Office the application for requesting a permanent resident status of the European Union or a residence permit, but the decision on granting a status or a residence permit is not yet adopted, you have the right to continue to stay in the Republic of Latvia until the day of adoption of the decision;
- if you stay in the Republic of Latvia and the application for requesting a permanent resident status of the European Union or any other residence permit is not submitted to the Office, you have to submit such application or, in accordance with provisions of Paragraph 100 of the Cabinet Regulation No. 564 “Regulations Regarding Residence Permits”, adopted on 21 June 2010, you have to leave the territory of the Republic of Latvia by 1 April 2024.
In accordance with provisions of Section 13, Paragraph one of the Personal Identification Documents Law, you have to transfer the personal identification document - residence permit within a time period of one month from receipt of this notification to the Office or, if you are in a foreign country - to the diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Latvia.
