In order to protect customers and employees, as from 10 June, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (hereinafter – the Office) will continue preparing and issuing identity documents by pre-appointment only, keeping the physical distancing. This order is supposed to be maintained at least as long as the Law on the Management of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection is in force.

Customer service by pre-appointment allows successfully controlling and limiting the risks inherent to gatherings of people and protecting both customers and employees from health risks. All other services of the Office are quickly and easily available by using the e-services on Latvija.lv or submitting documents by post.

Such services as applying for a visa or visa extension are available by submitting documents by post. If a citizen of the Republic of Latvia wishes to request a status of a repatriate, it can be done by submitting documents by post or electronically, being certified with a secure electronic signature. The documents that are submitted by foreigners who request a status of a repatriate will be examined simultaneously with the documents submitted for requesting a residence permit.

Examinations of citizenship applicants will be organised in accordance with the epidemiological safety measures and physical distancing.

For more information on the procedure for provision of the Office’s services, call us by phone +371 67209400 or visit the homepage of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs and our accounts in social networks.
