From 18 May and until the revocation of the emergency situation, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (hereinafter – the Office) will prepare and issue identity documents by pre-appointment only, disabling the services on a first-come, first-served basis.

Given the emergency situation caused by COVID-19, the Office’s main priority is the safety and health of its customers and employees. The new customer service regime will enable controlling and limiting the risks inherent to gatherings of people and keep both customers and employees safe from health threats.

Moreover, in order to reduce the time of stay in the customer service hall, it is possible to quickly and easily access to the e-service known as “Application for issuance of an identity document” on the portal Latvija.lv. This service enables applying for submission of the documents required for issuing a passport or eID card and make an advance payment of the state fee for issuance of a document. This e‑service allows choosing both the place where the service will be provided, and the date and time.

Please, note that the Office’s Riga Divisions are those that are most visited by customers, thus we are encouraging to apply for services as well in other 26 territorial divisions of the Office in other Latvian cities.

The contact information on pre-appointments is available here.
