From 14 October, a face mask must be worn in all public places

Continuing to reduce the rapid increase in the prevalence of Covid-19 in Latvia, on October 13 the government decided that from October 14, the mouth and nose cover should be used in all public places, including OCMA departments.

Taking care of the health of the Latvian population, OCMA strongly asks visitors staying in the customer service hall to wear a mouth and nose cover, especially in places where the distance of 2 meters cannot be observed, and if there is no physical barrier and stays longer than 15 minutes, as well as:

  • Evaluate the need for face-to-face services.
  • Arrive directly at reception time;
  • Behave responsibly towards fellow human beings;
  • Use one of the 14 e-services offered;
  • Cancel the visit if you notice any signs of illness.

"In future, face masks will be mandatory not only on public transport, but also in shops, pharmacies, post offices, museums, libraries, airports, bus stations and railway stations, as well as when visiting exhibitions and places of worship, such as worship services. This also applies to staff who are not separated from visitors by a physical barrier, such as special walls, and the rules already require that a face mask be worn at service points where people stay for more than 15 minutes and it is not possible to keep a distance of 2 meters. and no other physical barriers have been created. "

Wearing a face mask is not obligatory for:

  • children under 13 years of age (from the age of 13, a mask must be used), because it is important to wear the mask properly;
  • persons with specific medical conditions, for example, if a person has difficulty wearing a mask due to a movement disorder or if the person has a mental health disorder.
