In order to reduce the queues for identity documents (passports and eID cards), the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (hereinafter – OCMA) has extended working hours in all territorial divisions from July 19th to the end of summer.

Summer is usually the busiest time of the year when the demand for identity documents is growing. At the same time, the number of customers who book appointments for services but do not show up and fail to cancel the appointment, thus creating queues for receiving services, also increases significantly. Since June, more than 8,000 customers have failed to show up without cancelling their appointments.

So that as many customers as possible would be able to get their identity documents in time, the working hours of the territorial divisions of OCMA are extended from July 19th. It is expected that the changes in working hours will allow OCMA to serve more than 1,000 additional clients per week.

OCMA also repeatedly calls on customers to show solidarity and cancel their appointment if it is not possible to arrive on time. Each cancelled appointment allows OCMA to provide a service to another customer waiting in line.

From July 19th, the opening hours of the territorial units of OCMA are as follows:

Riga 1st Division                                                 

Tuesdays           from 8.00a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Wednesdays      from 8.00a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Thursdays          from 8.00a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Riga 2nd Division

Tuesdays              from 8.30a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Thursdays             from 8.30a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Fridays                  from 8.30a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Riga 3rd and 4th Divisions                          

Tuesdays            from 8.30a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Wednesdays       from 8.30a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Thursdays           from 8.30a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Jelgava, Jurmala, Liepaja, Ogre, Rezekne, Tukums Divisions

Tuesdays              from 8.30a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Thursdays             from 8.30a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Also, for all divisions, except Riga 1st and Riga 2nd Divisions, the working hours on Fridays have been extended to 3:30 p.m.
