The Ministry of the Interior and Ropazi Region Municipality opened the renewed building of the Asylum Seeker’s Centre and multifunctional centre for inhabitants of Mucenieki.
On Friday, 17 March at 12:00 o’clock, the Ministry of the Interior and Ropazi Region Municipality opened the renewed building of the Asylum Seeker’s Centre and multifunctional centre for inhabitants of Mucenieki.
Improvement and equipping works will continue in the building of the Asylum Seeker’s Centre until April, while the multifunctional centre Mucenieki is already available for inhabitants. The Asylum Seeker’s Centre and multifunctional centre are located in the same building with separate entries.
Further on it will be possible to accommodate approximately 400 persons in total in the current Asylum Seeker’s Centre and the reconstructed building. The new Asylum Seeker's Centre will have equipped rooms, public kitchens and training classes for measures of socio-economic inclusion.
Inhabitants of the village will have library services, rooms for sports activities, consultations of social service employees and municipal lawyer once per month, a possibility to use public internet as well as free of charge shower and laundry services for persons with low income and having a status of poor persons available in the multifunctional centre Mucenieki. Besides various education and leisure time events will take place in the premises of the multifunctional centre both, for children as well as adults. State Security Agency has entered into the lending contract/ agreement with Ropazi Region Municipality regarding use of the premises of the multifunctional centre Mucenieki.
Reconstruction of the building was performed for about a year in order it would completely correspond with the needs of inhabitants and asylum seekers. The property consists of a land plot in the area of 0.3447 ha and a residential building located on it with the total area of 1901.1 m2. Funds necessary for reconstruction of the building were granted from the State budget programme “Means for unexpected events”. Currently acquired funding is in the amount of EUR 1,845, 459 (excluding VAT). Expenses of the multifunctional centre in proportion of the total area of premises and additional expenses for arrangement thereof are EUR 321,750 (excluding VAT). The remaining funding is provided for construction of waste waters treatment plant and transfer of the high pressure gas line, constituting EUR 199,563 (excluding VAT).
It was already announced that the building is voluntary alienated from SIA Latectus for public needs in January 2016 in order to adjust it for accommodation of asylum seekers in need of international protection as well as establishment of the premises of the multifunctional centre provided for inhabitants of Mucenieki. After alienation the immovable property was recorded in the Land Register in the name of the State for the Ministry of the Interior.
